The topic of Indian wear and events can be confusing. They are diverse and they vary by region, culture, history, climate, geography, and religion of that region. So, if this is your first time at an Indian event, it\u2019s best to go for traditional attires AKA saree, salwar suit or lehengas.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Sleeve or Sleeveless?<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In a typical Indian event, it\u2019s best to avoid sleeveless clothing. For men, they can go for kurta-pyjama, kurta-jeans or dhoti. For women, sarees are the typical choice. One can go for salwar suits if tying a saree is cumbersome. Avoid a sleeveless blouse if this is your first attendance at an Indian formal event.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Best to don bright colours. A bright paithani, a Kanjeevaram or a Banarasi with detailed zari work can work wonders for any event.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

With a saree, you can opt to wear sandals and chappals or belle shoes. Since your feet will be mostly covered by the saree pallu, you can go for comfort footwear. Although sports shoes seem to be the most comfortable option, try to avoid wearing them as, during these events, you may be required to take off your footwear often.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

You should always keep in mind that Indian clothing tends to be loose-fitting. Therefore, you should avoid wearing tight clothing. Instead, opt for loose-fitting outfits. Also, remember to cover your shoulders and legs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Accessories<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Accessories play a huge role in making your look complete. Make sure that you carry a purse or bag. You can also carry a small handbag or clutch.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
